Eva Pattison Actor Headshot

"My family have been in the film industry for many years, so I grew up on film sets, and some amazing actors would be hanging out at our house."

Eva Pattison brings a wealth of fascinating experience to the world of acting, writing and music.

We sat down for a chat to get to know her story in more detail.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m an actor and a singer. I’ve just written my first children’s book about helping children deal with divorce. I’m also a yoga teacher, and I’m currently training for Run Melbourne, raising money for Ovarian Cancer research.

I love my country home in the Macedon Ranges, looking over Hanging Rock, and I love having friends over and cooking way too much food.

How long have you been acting/modelling and when did you first discover a passion for it?

My family have been in the film industry for many years, so I grew up on film sets, and some amazing actors would be hanging out at our house. I think it rubbed off on me, as I started performing at a very young age, dancing, studying drama and music throughout school, and performing at every opportunity. Also, my grandma is one of Australia’s leading experts on Shakespeare, so every family dinner had detailed discussions on different plays and characters, and I would watch every play she directed or acted in.

Film, TV, singing and theatre are pretty ingrained in me, and after school I moved to Melbourne, got an agent and started auditioning for TV and film roles, while also starting a band and completing my theatre degree.

What’s been your favourite acting job?

Performing on a beautiful outdoor set for Two Gentlemen of Verona, we were surrounded by fires and candles, within a natural amphitheatre.

Any humorous stories?

I’d just finished working on a film with a director, and he was telling me about a commercial he was about to shoot that needed a certain type of song. I half joked that I had a track just like that, and he said “perfect, bring a CD along tomorrow and I’ll take a listen.” So I got out of the meeting, power walked out of earshot and called a couple of friends in a complete panic. We wrote and recorded a song that night, played it to the director the next day, and somehow landed the lead role in the commercial and had our song as the soundtrack.
